1ST DAY ARRIVAL AT ATHENS-TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL-Overnight
Arrival at Athens, transfer to the Hotel. Tour to the Acropolis Museum, visit the Acropolis ,built in the Neolithic period, 4500-3500 b. C, an Unesco world heritage monument, (temple of Athena Nike, Erextheion) , then go to Romaiki Agora and passing through the Ancient Agora of Athens, visit to the temple of Hephaestus, at Thissio. Free time for shopping at Monastiraki square, and then Ermou street. Return to the Hotel. Overnight.
2ND DAY ATHENS CITY TOUR- LUNCH – AFTER CAPE SOUNION-RETURN TO ATHENS-Overnight
The tour begins from Omonia square, passing through Aharnean Gates and the famous Central Municipal Athens of Market, we visit the Epigraphic and Numismatic Museum and then reach the famous Syntagma Square, which was designed in the 19th century after King Otto moved the capital from Nafplio to Athens, visit the Tomb of the Uknown Soldier and also see the Parliament. Walk through Vasilissis Sofias, and Irodou tou Attikou, pass by Presidential Guard, Maximos Mansion (Prime Minister House) and Presidential Mansion, and then tour to the Panathinaiko Stadium, where the first Olympic Games of 1896, were held. Free time for shopping. In the evening , go to Cape Sounio. There we will visit the Temple of Posidon, built on the 44 B.C., situated in a rocky hilltop, with the magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. The Doric rythm columns are of utmost importance. See the wonderful sunset. Go back to Athens. Return to the Hotel. Overnight.
3RD DAY CORINTHOS-EPIDAURUS-MYCENAE-NAFPLIO – Overnight
Departure from Athens, we cross the Isthmia (Corinth Canal), and we visit the Ancient Corinth, an ancient city which was built in the 7th millennium b. C. Later, then we visit Epidaurus, listed as a very significant monument in the UNESCO world heritage list. It is said to be the birthplace of Apollos’ son Asclipios. The area was built in the Early and Middle Bronze Age (2800-1800 b. C). We will visit, the famous theatre, the Stadion, the Gymnasion, the Odeon, the Terms. Later we pay a visit to Mycenae, the city of Agamemnon. A city being built in the seventh millennium b. C. Among other monuments, we will visit the Lion’s gate, the Cyclopean Walls. Departure from Mycenae, then passing through Argos, we arrive in Nafplio, the Former Capital of the First Hellenic Republic first. Visit to the Town Hall, the Kolokotronis Park, Palamidi Castle, the Shore, the Courthouse, the Townhall, the Metropolitan Church of Aghios Georgios. Final stop the water castle of Bourtzi , built in 1473, in the island of St. Theodoroi, by the Italian engineer Gabelo. Arranging-Accommodation to the Hotel. Overnight.
4TH DAY TRIPOLI- VITINA-OLYMPIA-Overnight
Departure to Tripoli. We will make a short tour to the beautiful city of Tripoli. We will visit the central square with the court square designed by Ernst Ziller. See the monument of the famous Greek hero of the Greek War of Independence, Theodoros Kolokotronis, the Tripoli’s Cathedral, Agios Vasilios, the House of Greek writer Kostas Karyotakis and our final visit includes the Archaeological Museum. Departure to Vitina. Visit to St Trifonas Church, “o dromos tis agapis”, the folklore museum of Vytina. Departure to Olympia. Arranging - Accommodation to at the Hotel. Overnight.
5TH DAY OLYMPIA- Overnight
Tour to archaeological site, of Ancient Olympia, a city built in the Final Neolithic Period, in the 4th b.C. Among others, we will visit the Temple of Zeus At Olympia, the Temple of Hera at Olympia, the Ancient Stadium of Olympia, the Ancient Gymnasium of Olympia, the Nymphaeon of Olympia, and the Ancient Olympia Old Museum. Free time at Olympia. Return to the Hotel. Overnight.
6TH DAY DELPHI- Οvernight
Departure from Olympia, passing through Pyrgos, Amaliada, Patra, Rio-Antirrio Bridge, Itea, and Galaxidi, we stay at Delphi. Visit to the Archaeological Site of Delphi, a city being built in the middle of the 7th century to 500 b.C. Among others, go to the temple of Apollo at Delphi, the Treasury of the Athenians, the polygonal wall of Delphi, the Ancient theatre of Delphi, the Ancient Gymnasium of Delphi. Then tour the Delphi Archeological Museum. Later, visit to Arachova. We will see the Clock of Arachova, the Folklore Museum of Arachova, Sacred Church of the Presentation of Theotokos Arachova. Return to Delphi. Arranging- Accommodation to the Hotel. Overnight.
7TH DAY METEORA- TRIKALA-KARDITSA- Overnight. We visit Meteora. We see the Varlaam Monastery, the Museum of National history. We return to Kalampaka. Visit the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Departure to Trikala. We pass the Central Bridge, the Asclepeion of Ancient Trikki, Varoussi, the Old Town, the Osman Sah Mosque (this great work by the great architect Mirar Sinan), built between 1566-1570 . Go to Karditsa. Free time. Overnight.
8th DAY KARDITSA-LAKE PLASTIRAS-THIVA-ATHENS - Overnight
Mini tour to Karditsa. We walk through Fanari Castle, Pausilipo Park, Karditsa Archeological Museum. Then departure to lake Plastiras. It is called “The Switzerland of Greece”, due to its magnificent scenery. Stop at Kamena Vourla Departure to Thiva, one of the most important ancient cities of Greece, being built in the 4th millennia b. C. Visit among others, the Mycenaean Palace (Cadmea), the Archaeological Museum of Thives, and in general the ancient city of Thives. Departure to Athens.
9TH DAY DAILY CRUISE (HYDRA, POROS, AEGINA)-ATHENS-Overnight
From Piraeus Port/Flisvos go for 1 day trip to Argo-Saronic Gulf. First Station Aegina, visit to the Temple of Athens Aphea built in 420 b.C. . monastery of Agios Nektarios, the town Perdika and the Old Town. Then departure to Poros, visit the Old Town, the Clock Tower, the Temple of Posidon, Monument to the Fallen Heroes. Last stop Hydra, visit the Historical Archives Museum, the Bastions, the Merchant Marine Academy, the old Town. Return to Athens.
10TH ATHENS-Overnight
The program includes a visit to the Athens City Museum, the National Historical Museum. Then we go to Voukourestiou Street, for jewellery and cloth shopping, and then visit Kolonaki. We take the Teleferic Cable Car Station, to go to the top of Lofos Lycabettus hill, see St. George Church. The tour continues to the Byzantine Museum and the Athens War Museum. Then go to the Megaro Moussikis Concert Hall. In the evening, a tour will be made to the southern suburbs, with two important visits to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre and the Eugenidou Foundation Library.
